Product Management Essentials Bootcamp is mainly for students with a job-hunting intention for product management. It helps students with work experience to carry out rapid career improvement and transformation. This course aims to grow students' product sense, gradually enrich students' product management background, and strengthen data analytics ability.

This course will focus on three areas: "Agile development learning," "Product sense training," and "Product design training.", combined with in-depth instruction from senior data scientists and business analysts. The course aims to provide students with comprehensive product manager skills and interview training. From a product manager's perspective, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the product development process in the technology industry, along with in-depth knowledge of interview scenarios, questions, and techniques. The course will also focus on mastering core skills required for product positions in technology.

I’m from an engineering background, but I enjoy working with people, so I transitioned to a career in product management. However, I have yet to receive systematic PM training in my work, and I hope to find a course that can provide me with comprehensive learning from theory to practice.

The Product Management Essentials Bootcamp is a small-sized class featuring senior PM/TPM/TL instructors, product designers, data analysts, and business analysts from top-tier companies, including Amazon, Google, Intel, and Uber. The course combines theory and practice to explain essential skills such as product design, product management, and data analytics. Actual company products are used as examples to teach necessary skills and knowledge in project management, data analytics, and other areas.

Product Design Session

The product design section will be taught by Ms. Zeng, the Product Design Lead from Carta, who will cover three significant perspectives. Over approximately 8 sessions, students will learn basic concepts, standard tools, and the product design process.

Product Execution

Product execution will be taught by Mr. Wang, a TPM with over 7 years of experience at Intel and extensive experience leading nearly 100 cross-functional teams and launching numerous Intel hardware and software products. Over approximately 4 sessions, participants will master concepts and strategies of product execution and executive management skills in various environments, from small products to large companies with cross-departmental and multiple product line structures.

Product Launch

The product launch section will be taught by Emma, a senior TPM who has worked for Uber and Google for many years. Through 2 sessions, she will explain how to use market research and competitor analysis and deploy marketing and advertising strategies to both plans for the launch and ensure successful operation on the launch day, as well as effectively obtain launch data and feedback and iterate them into the next product iteration. This part of learning is essential for the interview and becoming a qualified and comprehensive PM.

Data Analytics

The data analytics section includes approximately 9 lessons. It will be taught by Nathan, a senior data scientist with over 20 years of experience in data analytics at a leading US energy company. The course emphasizes the importance of data analytics processing in learning. Chinese students often face language and cultural barriers when seeking product management jobs, but having a strong background in data analytics can help set them apart from other candidates during the interview process.

Interview

The interview section will be taught by Emma, a TPM from Uber, who has extensive experience in resume revision and interviewing. Emma is well-versed in the differences between 2B and 2C interviews, having interviewed at large companies such as FLAG, medium-sized companies such as Autodesk, and various small startups. She possesses detailed knowledge and interviewing experience specific to product management.

Capstone Project

Participants will apply the knowledge gained in class to complete a Capstone project based on industry needs, presented throughout the course as a complete product analytics and plan. The top performers can team up with fellow engineers from the Offer Project Practice class to participate in FLAG Camp, where the entire project will be developed and deployed online. Through this practical experience, students will gain hands-on experience in the PM role, applying their knowledge to lead and coordinate the development team in completing product development.
